Limoblaze and Jenn Johnson present at 54th Annual Dove Awards
NASHVILLE - The 54th Annual GMA Dove Awards took place on Oct. 17, 2023 at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. The awards were attended by the who-is-who of Christian and Gospel music. The show aired on Friday, October 20th, exclusively on TBN and The TBN App and simulcast on SiriusXM ‘The Message’. Host, Tauren Wells led the all-star night of music with performances from across the community including Gospel, Latin, Worship, Pop, Southern Gospel and a special tribute to Hip Hop. An encore performance will air on TBN and The TBN App Friday, October 27th, 2023 at 8pm and 10pm ET.
The big winner on the night was Brandon Lake, who received 11 nominations, snagged the coveted “Artist of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year” awards, along with “Worship Recorded Song of the Year” for “Gratitude” and “Rap/Hip-Hop Recorded Song of the Year” for “Graves,” a collaboration with hip-hop artist KB.
The awards also included two nominations for Nigerian-born Afro-Gospel artist Limoblaze (Reach Records), “Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year” - Jireh (My Provider) and “Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year” - Sunday In Lagos. This is the second time in four years that a Nigerian would be nominated at the Dove Awards. The last time, it was iconic singer Sinach who won the “Song of the Year” - Way Maker (Live).
Limoblaze’s night got even more exciting as he and Jenn Johnson (8-time Dove Award winner) took the stage to present the award for “Pop Contemporary Album of the Year”. This was one of the most unforgettable moments of the night as both presenters had such great chemistry. Limoblaze was looking dapper in an Olive Green relaxed Wrap Tie Suit while Jenn Johnson was adorned in a beautiful red satin dress. The pair cracked up the audience when Jenn corrected Limoblaze’s annunciation of the word “Dove” and he pleaded his Nigerianness.
Overall, 2023 has been a fantastic year for Limoblaze. 2024 will be bigger and better as plans for his US tour are on the way. Join our community to be notified of the tour schedule.
As the Gospel and Christian music industry in America continues to experience more of the music from their talented counterparts in Africa, we are certain that is only the beginning of greater things to come. We hope to see more nominees and winners from Africa.
